Gallery Craigflower Schoolhouse and Manor Craigflower Schoolhouse Craigflower Schoolhouse
Begun in 1853, the Craigflower site was one of the first European farms on Vancouver Island. The Schoolhouse now, is the oldest standing school in western Canada and is managed by the Province of BC’s Heritage Branch. The school was home to Canada’s first Parent Teacher Association, of which a relative of mine was a member. A large aboriginal archeological site is found in the Municipality of Saanich's Kosapsom Park and the grounds of the Craigflower School, which includes a massive midden indicating many hundreds, if not thousands, of years of continuous settlement. The Schoolhouse is now the headquarters for the Hallmark Society, a local heritage organization.
